Chartered Scientist and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science

I am a Chartered Scientist and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science with nearly 40 years’ service in the NHS, most of which has been spent in the laboratory setting. I practised Haematology and Blood Transfusion and further specialised in Haemostasis and Anticoagulation which included gaining an extended practice qualification in Anticoagulation Therapy Management.

I came away from the laboratory in 2019 to deliver and manage a new community Point of Care INR service for our patients, but in order to also improve patient safety for our inpatients I re-established the Thrombosis Group in the Trust and we are working hard to achieve Exemplar status for VTE prevention and to ensure we give the best care and prevent avoidable harm.

When not working you can usually find me in wellies walking my two rescue dogs or riding my horse.
