Bio

Andrew's research relates to blood pressure/hypertension and cardiovascular function (including central haemodynamic-/large vessel-, and microvascular-/endothelial function) and exploring the nitrate-nitrite-nitric oxide pathway in experimental medicine studies, e.g. with dietary nitrate - as in beetroot juice, through BHF- and MRC-funded work; recently in Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) and coronary microvascular dysfunction. Stemming partly from some early work he undertook for his PhD (awarded 2007), Andrew has led on applications for trials of inhaled heparin for early treatment and prevention of COVID.
